Millennium walk

This well-known meeting place is called Medis by the locals and it's a great place to start for an evening of beers.

Kvarnen was innaugurated in 1908 but its roots date from the 17th century on the old Borgmästarkvarnen restaurant. The indoor is decorated with wooden panelling and they serve the typical Swedish meatballs along with the classic fermented herring. The Evil Fingers, a band formed by friends of Lisbeth Salander who's the main character of Stieg Larsson's novels, play there every Tuesday night. In the venue both Mikael and Lisbeth are seen with different people, Mikael taking a beer with Dag Svensson and Lisbeth kissing her apartment colleague Miriam Wu.

This 7-Eleven is on the way from the metro to Lisbeth's home from the second book onwards in Södermalm. It's here where she buys different items and she realises she's been searched by the police. Opposite to what most 7-Eleven sell nowadays, Lisbeth buys her groceries and other items such as shampoo and cigarretes.

The office of Millenium is located above the then headquarters of Greenpeace in Stockholm. Shaped in an L-form the characters access their workplace through the number 11 in the same street.

This is another of the places Lisbeth goes by when getting from the metro home, Mosebacke torget. Located right next of Södra Teatern, Lisbeth and Annikka Giannini, her lawyer and Mikael's sister, have a beer after the entire trial. The theater is the oldest one in the city and was innaugurated in 1859. During the summer months one can take a drink at the same place as the characters do. Right next to the theater Katarinahissen takes people from the 12th floor in the Gondolen restaurant down to Slussen. The elevator is currently closed due to the construction works but the great views north of the city are definitely worth the small detour.

Lisbeth's home from the second book onwards is located in this very characteristic building from 1910 in Fiskargatan 9, really close to the theater. Salander gets to live in the top floor which has 21 different rooms even though she only furnishes about 3 with furniture from IKEA. The classic blue bags can be seen in the original Swedish movies as well.

This really modern building in Katarinavägen made out of concrete, glass and steel is the main office of Milton security where Lisbeth works as a freelancer. The company takes the last three floors with views to northern Stockholm. Dragan Armansky is the Executive Director that operates the company's office and the one that hires Lisbeth when her first guardian, Holger Palmgren, recommended her. It is really close from here right next to Slussen's metro entrance where the City Museum is located providing their own version of the Millenium tour which starts near the end of this walk in Mikael's home.

Java Café located in Hornsgatan street on the novels can no longer be seen in real life. The place is frequently visited by different characters in the novels and nowadays another stablishment with a different name is in the place instead.

Adat Jisrael is an orthodox synagogue part of the Jewish congregation in the city. Formed in 1871, the place hosts a meeting with Dragan from Milton Security and the inspector from the Swedish police, Jan Bublanski. The entrance to the synagogue can be seen from the side of the street along with some Jewish signs.

The luxury apartment in Bellmansgatan 1 is the home of Mikael Blomkvist. This classic location of the best spots in Stockholm features a bridge over the entrance right next to another famous elevator, Mariahissen. The 65 square metres flat with great views over to Riddarholmen was bought by Mikael in the 80s. In contrast with the movies, the characters in the novels access the apartment from the ground floor right next to where Lisbeth is seen throwing away a motorbike suit she buys Mikael when he's seen kissing on the bridge over the entrance.

Mariaberget is one of the best spots for a view of northern Stockholm. From Västerbron to Gamla Stan the city hall and the main train station are clearly visible in the centre.
